A temple near Bhubaneshwari temple The first half of day five was spent exploring ancient temples in Tripura's Udaipur town which is around 55 km from Agartala. We had no idea that Udaipur houses such  architecturally beautiful ancient temples. We also came across an interesting Badar Shaheb dargah revered by all faiths. Udaipur used to be the capital of Tripura from 14th century to late 19th century when the capital shifted to Agartala. Before the 14th century, the capital was Kailashahar near Unokoti. The 2nd half of our 5th day in Tripura was in Agartala. I will take that in my next post, which will be the last post on my Tripura trip. Mahadeva temple Itagi, South India Sharing another temple from the Gadag, Lakkundi series. The Mahadeva temple  is equally spectacular. Located in Itagi around 35kms from Gadag, this temple is devoted to Lord Shiva. Built in the early 12th century by Mahadeva, who was a commander in the army of Chalukya King Vikramaditya, this temple has some beautiful carvings. I wonder how the engineers and artisans in the ancient times managed to carve out such beauties, especially when there was no electricity or sophisticated instruments. It is amazing! Hazararama temple, Hampi, Karnataka One of my personal favourites, this temple was dedicated to Vishnu in the form of Rama. The name Hazara-Rama has been derived from the thousands of Rams carved on the temple walls. I absolutely love the carvings on the walls, especially the carvings on the pillars inside the temple. I am sharing the video that I captured at the Vitthala temple complex at Hampi, Karnataka, India. It is really quite an amateurish video but kind of gives you an idea about the temple comlplex. And again this does not do justice to the amazing beauty of this temple.

In continuation with my earlier post on Hampi, here is another beautiful temple structure.
