This blog is just about everything under the sun.
It is really my diary....I jot out events that leave
a lasting impression on me. It could be anything; relationships, business, culture...writing provides me a release from everyday stress and I take refuge in it very often. It gives me a lot of pleasure.
I look forward to evenings, there is something special about evenings......love the mood, love the moment, and love the serenity. My love for evenings can't be said better than the below quotes:
“The evening's the best part of the
day. You've done your day's work. Now you can put your feet up and enjoy it.”
-Kazuo Ishiguro
“Evenings are the beautifully sweet spot between the harsh
light of the day and the dead darkness of night.”
One of the oldest temples in Angkor, Phnom Bakheng temple is on a hill and involves a little bit of climb to reach there. Built in the 9th century the Phnom
Bakheng temple is currently not in a great condition, parts are being restored and you can make out how nice it must have been in it's prime. They were allowing only a certain number of people on top of the temple due to it's fragile condition.
I did not want to miss this temple since it seems extremely popular for sunset views. On the way up I could catch a glimpse of the Angkor wat temple complex amidst the jungles. The temple is unique in it's own way, and because it is at an elevation, the aerial overall view was nice.
This was the last temple on our agenda on day two at Siem Reap, and what an amazing day it was!
Was feeling exhausted after the long day, and the long wait for the sunset view in the heat and himidity, and yet I felt exhilarated after having seen these amazing temples...so totally worth all the exhaustion:)
If you missed my other posts on Angkor Wat, here they are:
I am digressing a little bit in
this post...well quite a bit actually ....moving across countries and
continents, from Angkor Wat to NYC.
Was going through the pictures of
my last travel just before the pandemic. Felt so nostalgic and so yearning to travel again....thought of sharing the pictures from that trip.
I had visited NYC for a couple of days during my trip. For one of the evenings, I joined a very small
group tour organized by Viator. So happy I did that! It was a wonderful
experience. We got some amazing views of the skyline from the Liberty State
Park and the Hoboken waterfront, and as a bonus got see some awesome fireworks too!
I hope you like the pics!
Me, shivering away to glory in the cold winter evening but loving it too!
In Liberty State Park we also visited the official New Jersey memorial (called the Empty Sky), dedicated to the state's victims of the September 11 attacks. Brought back memories of that day...so many innocents lost their lives that day:(:(
