Happy Independence day!

Mustard field Happy Independence day! This independence day I thought I would share some random pictures of nature. These are pictures from our many trips in and around Kolkata. I feel a sense of  complete freedom whenever I am close to nature. It feels wonderfully peaceful and therapeutic. I feel completely free of worries... The beauty never ceases to amaze me and, more importantly, the thought that no one quite owns this beauty. We are all free to own it, it is ours to experience any time we wish to. It is indeed exhilarating. Sunderbans Birds West Bengal Found this cute couple on the way to Sunderbans Birds in Sunderbans, West Bengal White breasted Kingfisher West Bengal

Decided to get up very early last weekend....I have been much too lazy:( Just don't feel like getting up early in the morning. This morning was different however... We got up at around 4.30am and went on a long drive and get into some bird watching. We did not have a very fruitful day bird watching wise...but we enjoyed the drive a lot. Long tailed Shrike Ashy WoodSwallow We did around 100 kms only. There is a lovely stretch from near Science city (in Kolkata) on the way to Basnati (towards Sunderbans) not very lovely to begin with...but gets better when we enter the vicinity of Sunderbans. Water bodies on either side of the road and lots of green. The monsoons making the green greener. I just love the monsoons... We stopped at small little shops to sip hot tea and munch on hot samosas and jalebis...sometimes these little things make me feel so good...just feel happy to be alive. Sharing some snaps that we captured during this drive...Long tailed Shrike, Ashy Woodswallows, white t...

I had a fantastic trip to Sunderbans recently. Sharing my experience and some snaps of the beautiful Sunderbans and its wild life. This place deserves a one-time visit definitely! We, my cousin Soma, me, my husband Anirban and Roshmi a common friend , set off by car at around 7 am on a cold winter morning on Jan 16th from Kolkata. Kolkata is usually not cold at all.. but this winter, it did get cold, really. Our aim was to reach Gadhkhali (around 100kms) by 10-10.30 am. We would park our car there and then get on to our launch which would we waiting for us there. We reached a little later than planned cause we stopped at many places and found some very lovely birds. Soma, who is an avid bird watcher and also our chauffeur:) got some really nice pictures. We parked our car and set off on the launch. I had never been to Sunderbans before. And I simply loved it. The vast expanse of rivers, mangroves...was breathtakingly beautiful. The launch that we had hired was very well equipped. T...
