Skyline of New York City

Image
The Skyline of New York City I am digressing a little bit in this post...well quite a bit actually ....moving across countries and continents, from Angkor Wat to NYC. Was going through the pictures of my last travel just before the pandemic. Felt so nostalgic and so yearning to travel again....thought of sharing the pictures from that trip. I had visited NYC for a couple of days during my trip. For one of the evenings,  I joined a very small group tour organized by Viator. So happy I did that! It was a wonderful experience. We got some amazing views of the skyline from the Liberty State Park and the Hoboken waterfront, and as a bonus got see some awesome fireworks too! I hope you like the pics!   Me, shivering away to glory in the cold winter evening but loving it too! In Liberty State Park we also visited the official New Jersey memorial (called the Empty Sky), dedicated to the state's victims of the September 11 attacks. Brought back memor...

Shenandoah Caverns Virginia, USA

Image
Shenandoah Caverns  Shenandoah caverns are located in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley near Shenandoah National Park in Virginia, USA. It was opened to public in 1922. The best part was the accessibility to the caverns. What would have been a long and perhaps not to easy to trek route, was made easy by an elevator. Yes, there was an elevator ferrying people to the entrance of the caverns and back! The elevator took us down 60 feet and there we were at the entrance of the caverns....our tour lasted an hour, and it was simply amazing! I did not know how the 1 hour passed. The different kinds of natural formations were absolutely amazing! Every time we entered a cave there was something different, it transferred us back to a completely different world! I have never seen anything like this before. I enjoyed every bit of the tour. Formation in the caves  Extensive deposits on the walls Beautiful cascade! Capital Dome formation ...

Niagara Falls: New York USA

Image
Niagara Falls I had always thought of visiting Niagara falls at some point and this time when I traveled to US it did look possible. Though it would have to be from the US side since I did not have a Canadian visa. Since I was staying at a friend's place in New Jersey, it was not so difficult for me to reach NYC. I just needed to take the NJ transit trains and reach Penn station. After checking out some tour packages, I settled for a two day, one night trip to Niagara falls which was being offered by Take Tours. The departure was from Chinatown at 8 am (Manhattan NYC). I reached Penn station around 7.10 am and in my excitement I thought it may be a good idea to walk to China town, it is around 3 miles from there quite doable but not when you have time constraints and I overestimated my fast walking capabilities. After walking close to 45 min, I found out that the destination was still far-far away and I just had 5 min left! I desperately started looking for a cab and it ...
